The Facts:

The Story:

Our minister's story is filled with the stuff of which many 21st century lives have been made. Her father died when she was five, she was an only child, raised by a single mother who experienced severe mental challenges. She left college after the first semester when her mother was hospitalized and never had the opportunity to return. Married young, she was the mother of three by the time she was in her late 20s and divorced by the time she was in her early 30s.

Bright, but with no advanced education; capable, but with no formal training; filled with ideas, but with no prospects, a family to care for, but no one to care for her; she did what many have done: she went to church. The church was untraditional and metaphysical and taught that everyone was an expression of the Divine and could change their lives by changing their thinking. Those ideas changed everything.

Studying, applying what she learned, learning to teach and counsel others, her life changed dramatically. In 1983 she realized that she was called to ministry. A dynamic speaker and inspirational leader, for nearly 20 years she served as the senior minister of SpiritWorks Center for Spiritual Living in Burbank, California.

But, while many lives were changing for the good within the walls of SpiritWorks, even a casual glance revealed that outside the walls there was enormous pain, suffering, and misunderstanding. Marlene was teaching that life was abundant and unlimited, but, the state of the world made evidence difficult to find. The minister wanted to change things, she wanted to tell people that life, and the world, could be different. But the more she spoke up the more things appeared to break down, and then she got sick - very sick. Doctors were baffled by the disease that had taken over her life, and so was she. Lying in a hospital bed, wondering if she was going to live or die, it all became clear. She needed to change her methods - and her message.

Marlene resigned from the church and moved to the Central Coast of California. As her body healed much became clear. The old forms weren't working. The world had changed, but "church" hadn't changed with it. It was time for a new spirituality. As had happened so many times before, the era of the old gods was passing and humanity needed to redefine its understanding of the Infinite, and its relationship to it. Out of this realization, and the church on demand were born.

Today Marlene is dedicated to bringing the world a new message: Relevant Spirituality that teaches self-worth, personal power and responsibility, and the immediate presence of Divinity; and a new method: church-on-demand, a center for spiritual inspiration that is available when you need and want it, 24/7/365.
